Dallas Cowboys Cookies

As I previously mentioned, I am married to a super sports fanatic. As much as he likes baseball, it wouldn't even hold a candle to his football obsession--2 years ago he had 23(!!!) fantasy football teams. He's since toned it down since we had the boy, but still, it's a ridiculous number. Fortunately, I am a HUGE football fan. I always watched it with my dad and my brother when I was growing up. We still get together on Sundays to have dinner and watch football-particularly if the Dallas Cowboys are playing. Which brings me to today's cookies... the iconic Dallas Cowboys star logo. These were actually made for a friend of mine whose grandmother-in-law was celebrating her 81st birthday. Apparently she is a huge Cowboys fan! But I'm sure my brother and my dad would enjoy them...if they could stop yelling at the TV long enough to eat one.

Texas Rangers Cookies!

I was never much of a baseball fan growing up. At least not a watch baseball on TV fan. I love going to see a game in person, but on TV? Not so much. And then I married a sports fanatic. Like a super sports fanatic. But even that didn't really get me to start watching much baseball on TV. Nope, that happened 15 months ago when I had a little boy. Then the Texas Rangers made the playoffs. And then the World Series. Since then I've become a TV baseball fan--at least when the Rangers are on. So in honor of the Rangers making the World Series again this year, I decided to celebrate by making some cookies! The Logo cookies were made free-hand, not using a KopyKake (which hopefully one day I will own), so they aren't perfect, but I LOVE how they turned out nonetheless.

Baby Shower Cookies for Cole!

My brother and his wife are expecting their second little boy in 3 weeks. A few of her friends and I threw her a small baby shower last week to provide them with a few necessities for the new little one. We celebrated with a taco bar dinner, and of course cookies! Below are the onesies I made for the occasion.

I can't wait to meet baby Cole in a few weeks!

Book Club Cookies: Saving CeeCee Honeycutt

I am a book nerd. Big time book nerd. When I'm in "book mode" I can read anywhere between 3-5 books during the course of the week. I'm up to 2 this week already, with the next one waiting on my nightstand. So when my sister-in-law mentioned she was in a book club, I asked if I could join. Thankfully she said yes, once again fueling my book reading necessity.

For some reason it took me a while to figure out that I should make cookies based on the book we were reading. Actually, it hadn't even crossed my mind until one of the other girls asked if I was bringing cookies based on the book last month (The Hunger Games trilogy--if you haven't read it, go get it now, and you can come look at the pretty cookies later). Sadly, I didn't have enough time to do cookies for that book club (will definitely be making mockingjay cookies for the movie though!), so I decided to start doing them for this meeting's book: Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman. The setting for the majority of the book takes place in Savannah, so I thought doing a postcard like cookie would be fun. Plus I was dying to try out the technique for the flowers. Check out the results below!
