Divergent & Insurgent Faction Symbol Cookies

I have several other posts to get to, but I couldn't wait any longer to share some of my favorite cookies ever with you all. As I've written about before, I am an avid reader, and get together every few weeks with my book club. This month's selection was Divergent & Insurgent by Veronica Roth. If you haven't read these books, please read them soon. They are AMAZING!! I can't wait until the third book is released in May. I don't always make cookies for every time we meet, but I immediately had a perfect idea for cookies to accompany this book.

What better way to represent this book, than by making the faction symbols into cookies?!?

Let The Hunger Games Begin! {Hunger Games Cookies}

In December of 2010, my book pal Sarah (instead of letters like a pen pal would send, we send each other books) told me I needed to read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I downloaded them to my Kindle and started reading. Four days, and very little sleep, later I had finished the entire series. I fell in love immediately with the trilogy. I couldn't get enough. A couple of weeks later, I read it again. Now more than a year later-and the hardback copies purchased as well, I have read the series 6 times. I LOVE it that much. The story hooks you in immediately, and never lets you go throughout the three books. So naturally when it was announced it would be made in to a movie, I was a little weary, and excited at the same time. I am very particular when it comes to movie adaptations of my favorite books. Some have succeeded (Harry Potter, The Help, Gone with the Wind), and many have failed (I'm looking at you Twilight Saga). BUT I am really, really, REALLY excited to go see The Hunger Games at midnight tonight. From everything I've seen-trailers, clips, stills, reviews-it look like they followed the book pretty closely, only adding in a few scenes outside of Katniss' perspective.

So, with my excitement dialed up to 11, I knew I had to do something special to celebrate the release of the movie. And what better way to do so than by making cookies??? Enjoy, and
"May the odds be ever in your favor!"

Book Club Cookies: Saving CeeCee Honeycutt

I am a book nerd. Big time book nerd. When I'm in "book mode" I can read anywhere between 3-5 books during the course of the week. I'm up to 2 this week already, with the next one waiting on my nightstand. So when my sister-in-law mentioned she was in a book club, I asked if I could join. Thankfully she said yes, once again fueling my book reading necessity.

For some reason it took me a while to figure out that I should make cookies based on the book we were reading. Actually, it hadn't even crossed my mind until one of the other girls asked if I was bringing cookies based on the book last month (The Hunger Games trilogy--if you haven't read it, go get it now, and you can come look at the pretty cookies later). Sadly, I didn't have enough time to do cookies for that book club (will definitely be making mockingjay cookies for the movie though!), so I decided to start doing them for this meeting's book: Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman. The setting for the majority of the book takes place in Savannah, so I thought doing a postcard like cookie would be fun. Plus I was dying to try out the technique for the flowers. Check out the results below!
